For as much as I like to bust Lloyd’s chops, he is pretty much the perfect husband-to-be.
He vacuums, he dusts, and he folds laundry. He built us a shed, he renovated our basement, and he wired our entire house and outdoors for surround sound. He bought me a Kitchenaid mixer for Christmas one year, and then installed an outlet in our island for ease of use, and later bought a TV for our kitchen so I could watch it while I cook.
Well, he said he bought the TV so I could watch TV while I cook.
I suspect that wasn’t a completely selfless purchase, as I often find him on our back deck watching the Bruins or Red Sox through the kitchen doors. And then, come August, he tried to tell my my birthday gift was the new TV in the kitchen, because my engagement ring should have him covered for at least a year’s worth of gifts.
Huh???
I didn’t put up a fight. We’ve never been big gift-givers in our relationship, as we often opt to go away for a weekend and if either of us really want something, we tend to just buy it anyway. Plus, a girl really shouldn’t argue with such a handy, close-to perfect fiancé.
So what do these burgers have to do with Lloyd writing off his new toys as my birthday gifts?
Nothing, other than the fact that they are tricky.
They look innocent enough. Simple turkey burgers with cheese, right?
Nay, I say!
Looks can be deceiving. These burgers are damn delicious, and don’t taste like they could possibly be good for you.
A nice blend of Italian flavorings lend these burgers great flavor and the melted, fresh mozzarella add a layer of delicious creaminess. Topped with a spoonful of bright marinara and some fresh basil, these burgers are mouth watering. Using minimal ingredients, these burgers come together in a snap. These will certainly be gracing our grill many times this summer.

@Zee, Make them without the bun! Or, do a “lettuce bun!”
Yum, I’m liking this combo! And wow, extra points for the outlet on your kitchen island–that’s truly clutch.
We aren’t big gift givers either, but I do love is TV gift for the kitchen. I need to show this to Matt-STAT!

I’m in love with the idea of my favorite Italian food morphed into a burger! I’ve gotta try these!
That is one huge piece of basil on the burger! I’m really bad at gift giving too, I got boyfriend new sheets and a Keurig machine for christmas because I really wanted both.

These look amazing! I’m not sure a ring covers a year of gifts…but my husband and I try to plan weekend getaways for each other when a big event comes up rather than racking our brains to buy gifts to wrap and open. Love these sandwiches!
Haha! My husband would do something like that, however, he also does our laundry and a lot of housework which I love. So it’s a nice trade off. These burgers look so amazing!
Mmm, these look both delicious and too good to be true as a healthy option
Love the asparagus on the side, too!
These burgers look so great. I love that it’s simple and healthy, yet full of flavor! Saving this one!

You do have a fantastic sounding fiance! My husband is pretty rad, he does dishes so I rarely have to. My birthday is the month before his and he always comes up with amazing gifts. They make mine look silly!
